The world lost an amazing Icon today. Adam West, someone I honestly consider the first real Live action Batman, passed away at the age of 88.
Remembering a Legend
I remember being shown the 1966 Batman series at a young age. The way that Adam West was able to portray such a campy and ridiculous version of ‘The Dark Knight‘ was always a matter of great awe to me.
He went on to have a part in so many other projects and shows that I found myself loving.
It is said that he always considered himself ‘The Bright Knight’. That seems so appropriate because of the way that Adam West was able to light up any room with his presence.
You will be Missed, Adam West.
Adam passed away at the age of 88 after a brief battle with leukemia. He was surrounded by loved ones and lived a very full and joyful life. Anyone who ever had the pleasure of being in the presence of this amazing man, always seemed to walk away feeling happier. That’s the kind of man Adam West was.
The passing of Adam West is a palpable loss for the entire world. It is true, that when some on lives a life as long and fulfilled as he, that their passing is not a tragedy. However, that does not remedy the sadness that I and many others feel today.
From his many live action cinematic and television works and appearances, to his many voice acting jobs; Mister West touched the lives of millions of people on the planet. Even if you hadn’t realized it, you likely listened to or watched Adam within the past few days. That’s how busy he kept himself as an entertainer.
My heart and thoughts are with his family. I am sure that even with the long and happy life that he lead, they are suffering a great loss at this time.
Rest in Peace, Big Kahuna.
